We had the pleasure of welcoming Professor Andy Stott, Head of Popular Music at RNCM - Royal Northern College of Music, to introduce our students to RNCM and their brilliant music courses. Andy told us about the unique flexibility they offer at the Conservatoire, and even gave precious feedback to some of our students who got on stage and performed for him.
Career Development Week: She's Got Brass
She’s Got Brass: We had loads of fun with Anna and Hannah from She’s Got Brass! They joined us for Career Development Week to tell us about their unique all-female brass ensemble, and their exciting experiences playing massive festival stages, being DIY artists, and everything in between. They also helped us reflect on the power of perseverance and what it takes to take up space in a male-dominated industry.
Career Development Week: Industry Panel
Industry panel: Another highlight from our Career Development Week, we hosted a superstar music industry panel with Seb Juviler from Forever Audio, Joel Peters from Three six zero and Javier from 5dB. We had the pleasure of re-discovering what their businesses are all about, and to talk in depth about the ever-changing direction of our journeys as musicians, injecting new ideas into the way we think about our careers.
Career Development Week: Being Your Own Boss - Charmfactory
It was such a pleasure to host a workshop with Jeremy Scott from Charmfactory as part of our sixth formers Career Development Week 2024. Jeremy, whose own music journey started in rock bands touring with Pantera as a 16 year-old, through to stints as head of marketing at Universal Records and Jamie Oliver, provided students with a practical toolkit for life as an independent artist. From releasing your music, to building a fanbase, developing revenue streams and protecting your IP, Jeremy covered all bases to set our students off on the right path.
