RSF Scholarship Profiles - Enrico

As we welcome our new group of RSF music scholars for 2020-21, we say goodbye to a number of long-standing scholarship holders who have spent several years at the Rhythm Studio. They are now joining our growing group of Alumni and we’d like to share some of their stories with you as well as wish them good luck in the future.

Enrico Cauilan

Enrico has held an RSF Scholarship for a year. A self-taught pianist, with no access to music at his sixth form, Enrico completed a music tech Level 3 Certificate in Music Production to sharpen up his compositional skills.

He grew up listening to classical music, likes to listen to and reference film and video game soundtracks when he is doing compositions and also appreciates metal, rock, experimental and Jazz genres. He’s been inspired by artists as varied as Nils Frahm, Phillip Glass, Keiichi Okabe, Nine Inch Nails, Thom Yorke and Nobuo Uematsu.

Recently, Enrico has been listening to a jazz pianist Hiromi Uehara. “She has made a lot of amazing piano compositions, some of which are my favourite pieces of all time”.

Enrico says, “The RSF Scholarship has helped me immensely in using Logic Pro X as efficiently and musically as possible. I have also been given insight on the basis of rhythm and percussion in pop, hip-hop and rock music.” Enrico is studying a MA in Music at Oxford Brookes in October.
